Who Is Brian Mast?
Brian Jeffrey Mast (born July 10, 1980, Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a Republican U.S. Representative serving Florida’s 21st Congressional District since January 2017. He is running for the Florida U.S. Senate seat in 2026.
Mast is a combat veteran who served in the U.S. Army and as an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) specialist. He was severely wounded in Afghanistan in 2010, losing both legs and a finger from an IED explosion. He later worked for the Israel Defense Forces as a civilian and for the ATF before running for Congress.
Mast holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University (earned while serving in the Army). He serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
