Biographical Overview

Andrew R. Jassy has been CEO of Amazon.com since July 2021, succeeding Jeff Bezos. He joined Amazon in 1997 as a marketing manager and is the founder and longtime CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), which he built from its 2006 launch into the world’s dominant cloud computing platform with over $100 billion in annual revenue. As AWS CEO from 2016 to 2021, Jassy was responsible for a business that provides cloud infrastructure to the U.S. federal government through the CIA, DoD, and dozens of civilian agencies — making Amazon’s relationship with federal procurement a central strategic concern.

Jassy is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He serves as trustee of Rainier Scholars and chairs the Rainier Prep board. Under his leadership as Amazon CEO, the company has navigated ongoing FTC antitrust scrutiny of Amazon’s marketplace business and has continued to expand AWS’s government cloud contracts.

He holds a B.A. from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
