Who Is Burgess Owens?

Burgess Owens (born August 2, 1951, Columbus, Ohio) is a Republican former U.S. Representative who served Utah’s 4th Congressional District from 2021 to 2025. He is a former NFL player (New York Jets, Oakland Raiders). He lost his 2024 reelection bid in what was a competitive swing district. He was not in Congress when the amicus brief was filed.
