Cindy Hyde-Smith (born May 10, 1959, Brookhaven, Mississippi) is a Republican former U.S. Senator from Mississippi who served from April 2018 (appointed) to January 2025. She was the first woman elected to statewide office in Mississippi. As a senator, she voted to sustain the objection to Arizona’s electoral results on January 6, 2021. She did not sustain the Pennsylvania objection and did not sign the amicus brief (it was a House document). She chose not to seek reelection in 2024.
