Goal

Decide whether a video deserves trust, skepticism, or deferred judgment.

Steps

1. Obtain direct file or canonical platform URL; avoid re-upload chains.
2. Check metadata (container, codec, resolution) for signs of re-encoding only — not proof of fake.
3. Look for jump cuts, lip sync, lighting inconsistencies on key claims frames.
4. Cross-reference audio events (sirens, crowd chants) with independent footage if available.
5. Use InVID-WeVerify-style frame workflows if you use browser extensions (follow org policy).
6. Output: authentic / manipulated / insufficient evidence with reasons.

Pitfalls

• Compression artifacts ≠ deepfake.
• Satire reposted as news.
