Who Is Cynthia Lummis?
Cynthia Marie Lummis (born September 10, 1954, Cheyenne, Wyoming) is a Republican U.S. Senator from Wyoming, serving since January 2021. She was previously a U.S. Representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 2009 to 2017.
Lummis holds a B.S. in Animal Science and a J.D. from the University of Wyoming. She served in the Wyoming House of Representatives (1979–1983, 1985–1994) and the Wyoming Senate (1994–2000), and as Wyoming State Treasurer (2003–2007) before her House service.
Lummis is known nationally as one of Congress’s most prominent advocates for cryptocurrency and digital assets. She sits on the Senate Banking Committee, where she has been active on financial regulation and cryptocurrency legislation. She was reelected to the Senate in 2026.
