Jack Bergman (born February 2, 1947, Shakopee, Minnesota) is a Republican U.S. Representative serving Michigan’s 1st Congressional District since 2017. He is a retired United States Marine Corps lieutenant general.
Bergman holds a B.S. from Gustavus Adolphus College and an M.B.A. from the University of West Florida. He served 40 years in the military, retiring as a three-star general. He is the highest-ranking military officer ever elected to Congress as a freshman.
MI-1 is a large Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula district. The district includes significant areas of Michigan that voted for Trump in 2020.
