Sidney Powell was a former federal prosecutor who wrote a book (Licensed to Lie, 2014) criticizing government prosecutors for making false statements and suppressing evidence in high-profile cases. In November 2020, she held a press conference at RNC headquarters alleging that Dominion Voting Systems was a Venezuelan government-controlled operation, that Hugo Chavez (who had died in 2013) had designed it to flip votes, and that Cuba and China were also involved.
