### January 6 Blanket Clemency — January 20, 2025

On his first day in office (January 20, 2025), President Trump signed an executive order granting blanket clemency to all approximately 1,500 defendants charged or convicted in connection with the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. This included:

– Full pardons for those convicted of violent offenses, including assaulting police officers

– Commutations for those serving the longest sentences

– Dismissal of pending charges for those awaiting trial
