Biographical Overview

Timotheus Höttges has been CEO of Deutsche Telekom AG since January 2014, leading one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies with operations across Europe and through T-Mobile US. Before becoming CEO, he served as CFO of Deutsche Telekom (2009–2013) and before that as CEO of T-Mobile Deutschland and EVP of European Operations. He joined Deutsche Telekom in 2000.

Höttges has been the architect of Deutsche Telekom’s U.S. strategy, overseeing the transformation of T-Mobile from a struggling fourth-place carrier into the nation’s second-largest wireless provider through the 2020 Sprint merger. His governance authority over CEO selection at T-Mobile makes him arguably the single most powerful non-American influence on one of the U.S.’s most strategically important telecommunications companies.

He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Cologne.
